Carthage Hardware is looking for an outgoing individual to add to our retail sales team. With a focus on sales and customer service across the store. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, take initiative and work well as a team, have a thorough attention to detail and be able to deliver exceptional hometown customer service. Willing to train that right person. We work hard and like to have fun doing it! The major responsibilities for this position include:

• Ensure each customer receives outstanding service
• Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
• Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management
• Assist in the training and development of peers
• Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards
• Participate in the processing of new shipments and help the team to keep the receiving and back stock area clean and organized
• Responsive of safety issues
• Conscious of shoplifting activity
• Aid customers in locating merchandising in store, website, as well as, processing special orders
• Work with management to plan and develop sales events and marketing plans.
• Provide exceptional customer service and build strong relationships with clients
• Demonstrate product knowledge and effectively communicate the features and benefits of the products
• Assist customers in selecting the right products for their needs
• Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently
• Restock merchandise and ensure proper product placement
• Meet or exceed sales goals on a regular basis

Minimum Requirements The minimum requirements for this position include:

• Education/Training: High School degree, some college preferred (Full-Time). Part-Time positions are open to individuals anticipating graduation. Posses a vast product knowledge of hardware/gardening/paint/home décor/cooking and other houseware related products along with a willingness to learn.
• Must have dependable transportation and valid Missouri Drivers license.
• Sales and marketing experience with retail programs, establishing relationships and working with customers.
• Previous experience in a retail environment either in marketing or sales.
• Knowledge of retail computer systems, MS Word and Excel a plus.
• A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction
• Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
• Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business
• Bilingual or multilingual skills highly desirable
• Basic retail math skills for handling transactions and calculating discounts
• Ability to learn and adapt to new technology sales tools and system
• Ability to sell and persuade customers effectively
• Proficient phone etiquette for handling customer inquiries

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $13.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
